If you were in alive in 1969 (congrats, you’re not a millennial), you might remember the hit film of that year, “Hello, Dolly!” Garrison had the honor of being the filming location for Barbara Streisand’s classic Yonkers scene.

We’ve always thought Yonkers is a pretty bizarre-sounding name for a place, but we’re not in much of a position to judge when our day-to-day conversations include phrases like “leach fields” and “pneumatic sludge pumps”.

Protecting the picturesque aesthetic and old charm is important in Garrison. This is why one might see river views similar to 19th-century paintings, and a lack of asphalt on the roads. Personally, we believe paintings of recently pumped septic tanks deserve a place above the mantel – but we may be biased.
