Matamoras gets its name from the historic Mexican city of Matamoros, the first city to be occupied by U.S. troops during the Mexican-American war. Admittedly, there aren’t many people frequently traveling between the two cities, but Town Ordinance 39-b states that if you’re able to order and eat a sandwich in both towns within 24 hours they’ll give your next one half-off.
